A family home an 11‑minute walk from the Saint Louis Zoo

The Saint Louis Zoo's south entrance is an 11-minute walk, about half a mile. Forest Park itself begins two minutes from the front porch, and the Zoo, Saint Louis Art Museum, Saint Louis Science Center, Missouri History Museum and The Muny are all inside the park and all free to enter.

Yes. Free private off-street parking for two cars behind the house, off the alley. It is a fenced gravel-and-grass area rather than a paved driveway, so a low-clearance car may prefer the curb after heavy rain. Street parking on the block is free and unrestricted except St. Patrick's Day weekend. There is no EV charger on site.

No. The home does not accept pets because it hosts guests with allergies. Smoking and vaping are also not permitted inside, and parties and events are not allowed.

No. Every bathroom is on another floor: two upstairs and a half bath in the basement, so stairs are unavoidable in this house. Guests for whom stairs are difficult should know this before booking.

No. The basement is unfinished, with painted joists, exposed studs, an open electrical panel and a concrete floor. It does have air hockey, foosball, the laundry and a brand-new half bath, and it is where most visiting children end up spending their time.

The street-facing primary bedroom catches traffic noise from Interstate 64/40. Portable fans and room-darkening shades are provided, and the back bedrooms are quiet. This is a lived-in city block, so some ordinary neighborhood sound is normal.

Check-in is after 4:00 PM using a keypad smart lock, with the code sent before travel. Check-out is by 10:00 AM. Check-in is self-service, so there is no need to coordinate an arrival time.

St. Louis requires a signed rental agreement and ID verification, plus either a $45 damage waiver covering up to $1,500 of accidental damage or a $1,000 refundable deposit. By car: the Saint Louis Science Center is 5 minutes, the Art Museum and The Muny 7, The Hill for Italian dining 6, Busch Stadium and Enterprise Center 13, the Gateway Arch and downtown 15, and Lambert International Airport 20. Dogtown hosts St. Louis's biggest St. Patrick's Day parade each March, which runs through the neighborhood.
